P.O.W. Started me writing. It is a story I have told endless amounts of times to people who were curious as to how us Forleo's came to find ourselves in South Africa. Whilst laying on the beach one hot summers day, not far from where the second part of my story unfolds; I decided that one of my New Years resolutions would be to document this story. It was to be something to dedicate to my late father and something for my grandchildren too. Once I began writing I felt transported, I felt as if I were just the 'machine', tapping away at the keyboard, and that the one telling the story, was in fact my dad. There were times that I would come round and discover that a tear had rolled down my cheek. Other times, I felt my dad at my shoulder.... So this is just as much his writing as it is mine.
The following stories where to prove to myself that in fact there may still be some creative writing flare, from within me.

POW (Prisoner of War)
A true story, which reflects a chapter in my fathers' life, at the tender age of twenty-seven, when he was taken prisoner of war in North Africa and little did he know that this would be the turning point in his life. The story has a short introduction in the battle torn desert and unfolds with his journey to the concentration camp of Zonderwater, on the outskirts of Pretoria, South Africa. The years he spent in that camp and how he tutored illiterate men much older than himself, to read and write. Later, his transfer to a convent north of Durban and how he transformed this haven and built new classrooms. Also the impact he had on certain people's lives.
