POW (Prisoner of War) - Notes and pictures related to the story

P.O.W. is based on a true story, which reflects a chapter in my fathers' life, at the tender age of twenty-seven, when he was taken prisoner of war in North Africa and little did he know that this would be the turning point in his life. The story has a short introduction in the battle torn desert and unfolds with his journey to the concentration camp of Zonderwater, on the outskirts of Pretoria, South Africa. The years he spent in that camp and how he tutored illiterate men much older than himself, to read and write. Later, his transfer to a convent north of Durban and how he transformed this haven and built new classrooms. Also the impact he had on certain people's lives.

A short while ago, I visited the then convent of Genazzano, in Tongaat, today a Boys Town and walked through the grounds which was once my dad's home. I took pictures to remember this place by, as it is in the rapid process of transformation and one does not know how long it will still be there. This I share with you
